The Atlantica Range

The Atlantica range is the most narrow of the house types, having an external width of 6.1m (corresponding to appr. 5.6m internally, depending on wall type). The standard roof pitch is 30° without rooms in the roof and 45° with rooms in the roof. The internal max. with of the room-in-the-roof space is around 4m.

Like all Scandinavian Homes the Atlantica series can be built in lengths which are multipla of 1.2m + 0.422m (external measurements), hence you could theoretically build a Scandinavian Homes house that is 1.622 meters long overall. More typical sizes are Atlantica 41 with a length of 7.622m (floor area approximately 41m2, hence the 41 after 'Atlantic' in the type designation), Atlantica 55 with a length of 10.022m and a floor area of around 55m2, and Atlantica 75 with a length of 13.2m.

The illustration shows an Atlantica 61 ready for outer wall cladding and roof tiles.

The width of an Atlantica house corresponds to that of some old traditional cottages but they feel much larger inside because the walls are not as thick. An Atlantica house can become a large house by making it longer, e.g. an Atlantica 147 is a house that is 5,7m wide and 25,6m long. Keep in mind, however, that a long narrow house costs more to build per m2 and takes more energy to heat than a more square house.
